The jury process is an important and vital process to the courts function. Jury duty is a responsibility that all qualified citizens must share and as the final check and balance on the American system of government.

Parking is free. Enter from the parking deck on the corner of Nash St. and Constitution Blvd. The entrance to the building is on level P4.
Juror Expectations
For reporting date and time, visit ejury.gwinnettcounty.com or call 770-822-7170 the Saturday or Sunday prior to your week of jury service printed on your jury summons and everyday thereafter for the remainder of the week. Report at date and time given on the recording or website. You will be checked-in and given an orientation on the juror process and what will be expected of you. You will receive jury pay for the days you are requested to physically attend jury duty.
Proper Attire For Court
If you are appearing for Court/Jury Duty, you should dress in a manner that shows respect for the Court. Please do not wear strong perfumes or colognes.
Security & Electronic Devices
Upon arriving at the courthouse, you will be required to go through security screening. Weapons of any kind (including pocket knives) are prohibited.
All cell phones and other electronic devices must be turned off upon entering a courtroom.
Our Jury Assembly Room is equipped with wireless network that is available for jurors. Cell phones, personal electronic equipment, etc. are allowed in the Jury Assembly Room.
Qualifications to Serve as a Juror
In order to reduce wait times when you arrive for jury duty, Jury Administration would like to be sure you meet the minimum qualifications ahead of time to serve as a juror. If you do NOT meet any one of these qualifications, please notify Jury Administration for assistance ASAP by e-mail (jurorinfo@gwinnettcounty.com) or phone (770-822-7170).
- You must be at least 18 years of age and older
- You must be a resident of Gwinnett County, Georgia
- You must be a citizen of the United States
- You cannot serve if you are a convicted felon and your rights have not been restored to you
Jury Trial Process
Granting Exemptions
Under Georgia State Law, exemptions are granted to the following properly documented persons:
- Persons who are permanently disabled either mentally or physically, will be permanently excused upon receipt of proper documentation from their medical physician. The documentation must state a permanent disability exists. This must be submitted at least seven days prior to jury date. This affidavit can be found on our E-Jury website.
- Persons age 70 or older who do not wish to serve may file an affidavit requesting their name be removed from the jury list. An affidavit form is attached to summons for your convenience.
- Full-time students at a college, university, vocational school or other post-secondary school who request to be excused or deferred must provide documentation from their school registrar's office. This must be submitted at least seven days prior to jury date.
- Any person who is a primary caregiver having active care and custody of a child six years of age or under who has no alternative child care available must sign an affidavit available on our E-Jury website. This must be submitted at least seven days prior to jury date.
- A person who is the primary unpaid caregiver for a person OVER the age of six; who completes an affidavit stating that such primary caregiver is responsible for the care of a person with such physical or cognitive limitations the he or she is unable to care for himself or herself and cannot be left unattended and that a primary caregiver has no reasonably available alternative to provide for care. The documentation must be filled out by a physician or other medical provider. This must be submitted at least seven days prior to jury date. This affidavit can be found on our E-Jury website.
- If you are a primary teacher in a home you may request to be excused or deferred if you are in a home study program and have no reasonably available alternative teacher. An affidavit must be submitted seven days prior to jury date. This affidavit can be found on our E-Jury website.
- Active Military member or the spouse of an Active Military member on ordered military duty can request to be excused or deferred. An affidavit or a copy of your current military orders must be submitted seven days prior to jury date. This affidavit can be found on our E-Jury website.
- Persons who are not fluent in the English language may request to be excused. An affidavit must be submitted seven days prior to jury date. This affidavit can be found on our E-Jury website.
Exemption Forms
Exemption forms are located on ejury.gwinnettcounty.com
Once the exemption form is completed and notarized, you can email the form by scanning it (pdf format) or by taking picture and e-mailing it to: jurorinfo@gwinnettcounty.com. The notary stamp must be visible.
Postponements
Jurors can request an one-time postponement. A postponement request must be made no later than seven days prior to your service date. All postponements are granted or denied under the discretion of the court.
The postponement time frame is no later than 90 days from your original service date.
